About Agrico
A powerful cooperative
Agrico is a powerful cooperative and a force for innovation within the potato sector, creating, strengthening and increasing the sustainability of potato value chains. We deliver strong and healthy potato varieties to destinations around the world that are perfectly suited to local conditions and markets. We develop, produce and market high-quality seed and ware potatoes, cultivated by both conventional and organic methods.
As a cooperative, Agrico is committed to collaboration and partnership. We believe that collaboration is the best guarantee for excellent growth and achieving the highest quality. Driven by our joint efforts, shared passion and the knowledge of our breeders, growers, employees and customers, we distinguish ourselves in the development of innovative potato varieties and the global optimization of potato value chains.
The seed
Agrico has its roots in the cooperative. In 1973, Agrico’s forerunners (PZVB, DTV and Zuiderzeepolders) joined forces to create this new and ambitious organization. This cooperative sowed the seed for the leading global player that Agrico is today.
Since then, more than 1,200 growers have pooled their knowledge and ambition in the Agrico cooperative. In almost 50 years, this partnership has led to the development of numerous innovative potato varieties, and Agrico has expanded globally to become the market leader in certified, high-quality seed potatoes.
We started out on Dutch soil, but our potatoes now grow all over the world. With our protected varieties, we operate in the larger production regions of more than 80 countries where certified seed potatoes can be used and breeders’ rights are recognized.
Mission
Our mission is to contribute to food security for a growing global population. Thanks to the power of partnership and our expertise in the chain, we are able to supply high-quality seed and ware potatoes worldwide. We develop innovative varieties to suit every spot on the planet where professional, successful and sustainable potato cultivation is possible.
We also create and enhance the sustainability of potato value chains around the world. This professionalization of the potato value chain ensures a better quality of potato cultivation, and our main priorities in this are innovation, humanity and the environment.

Agrico has an extensive network of subsidiaries and partners that link us to local markets and enable us to provide value worldwide, customized to specific needs and in the local language.
Agrico operates as both an architect and partner in the development and optimization of sustainable potato value chains. Our goal is to achieve excellent growth for everyone in the chain by increasing efficiency, quality and food security.
Globally, more than one billion people eat potatoes. Cultivation is extremely sustainable because the potato produces more food faster on less land, using less water.
