Breeders Trust has been vindicated in an arbitration case against a Dutch seed potato grower who has been shown to have illegally sold undersized potatoes as propagation material to Germany. The case is of importance because this verdict is unique in the seed potato sector, says Geert Staring, general director of Breeders Trust, based in Brussels. Potato growers and trading companies now know what to expect when undersized potatoes are illegally sold as seed potatoes.
Jan Wolthuis unanimously elected during general meeting

French consumers find Gourmandine the tastiest potato
The Gourmandine has been awarded the coveted French quality award ‘Saveur de l’Année 2012’ (editor: ‘Taste of the Year 2012’). Once again, French consumers find the Gourmandine to be the tastiest potato in the category potatoes, vegetables and fruit. This culinary variety also received this honour in 2009. Again, Agrico is extremely pleased with this award, all the more because the appreciation comes from the end-user: the consumer!
Polish subsidiary continuous to expand with Agrico-varieties
It was the Polish king Jan III Sobieski who first introduced his subjects to the potato after a visit to Vienna in the 17th century. This was the start of a love affair, which resulted in Poland becoming one of the 10 largest potato producers in the world. Together with its subsidiary Agrico Polska Sp. z.o.o., Agrico has built a strong market share in this potato country through the introduction and marketing of the Agrico-varieties. That is why this edition of the Agrico-varieties and seedling exhibition put the spotlight on Poland as well as on four new varieties which have been included in the variety register.
